Predictive Emergence (PE)

Predictive Emergence (PE) is the core conceptual metric of Adherence Cartography, designed to transform multidimensional behavioral data into a forward-looking, actionable indicator of adherence potential. It synthesizes information across complementary behavioral domains to help clinicians, researchers, and health systems anticipate adherence patterns.


Behavioral Dimensions:


  • BASE™ – Represents the stability of adherence routines and consistency of behavior.
     
  • MVMT™ – Captures recent, observable adherence actions.
     
  • STRATA™ – Reflects the social, relational, and resource context supporting adherence.
     

These domains interact within a structured, three-dimensional framework, creating a holistic view of a patient’s behavioral ecosystem.


How PE Functions Conceptually

  • Integration of Domains: PE conceptually combines the three behavioral dimensions to provide a unified, interpretable measure of adherence potential.
     
  • Intentional Considerations: The framework accounts for deliberate deviations in adherence, distinguishing between conscious choices and structural or situational limitations.
     
  • Forward-Looking Metric: PE serves as a predictive indicator, estimating the likelihood that a patient’s adherence will continue under typical, real-world conditions.
     

Why PE Matters

  • Predictive Insights: Identifies patients whose adherence may appear stable superficially but is vulnerable under stress or change.
     
  • Tailored Interventions: Supports targeted clinical interventions by highlighting specific behavioral or contextual vulnerabilities.
     
  • Population-Level Analysis: Enables health systems to stratify patients by behavioral risk and map adherence potential across cohorts.
     
  • Research Utility: Facilitates longitudinal studies, trial stratification, and modeling of real-world outcomes based on integrated behavioral assessment.
     

PE in Practice

  1. Data Collection: Capture the patient’s behavioral and contextual scores.
     
  2. Behavioral Mapping: Place the patient within a conceptual framework visualizing routine stability, recent behavior, and environmental support.
     
  3. Predictive Assessment: Generate a forward-looking indicator of adherence potential.
     
  4. Actionable Guidance: Inform interventions, coaching intensity, and monitoring priorities based on predicted behavioral fragility.
